Atypical Nerve Compression Syndromes and Related Conditions

Deviant from the typical mechanism of a nerve compression syndrome within a bottleneck, tumorous changes on or in the nerve itself or other structural changes of the nerve can lead to pain symptoms or functional disorders. As a rule, in the case of the largely unknown and often only late-diagnosed diseases, free from symptoms can be achieved through surgical intervention. These are intra- and extraneural ganglia, schwannomas/neurofibromas, the very tormenting (preferably subungual) glomus tumors for the patient, and the hitherto etiologically partly still controversial nerve and fascicle torsions, mostly in the context of neuralgic amyotrophy.
