Seasonality customarily refers to the annual cycle in time series sampled at intervals that are integer fractions of the annual, such as quarterly or monthly observations. The concept can be generalized to less regular pairs of frequencies, such as weeks within years and even to analogous features, such as the daily cycle in hourly observations.
