A questionnaire is a helpful method of collecting a wide range of information from a large number of respondents. The questionnaire was invented by Sir Francis Galton in about 1870. Containing structured groups of questions, it can be used to examine the general characteristics of a population, to compare attitudes of different groups, and to test theories.
