Ecological Niches and the Evolution of the Brain

The brain of a species has evolved over evolutionary time periods to adapt to the ecological niche that this species occupies. Due to the climate crisis, many ecological niches are changing rapidly and some are disappearing entirely. Species whose brains are strongly adapted to a specific ecological niche will therefore likely struggle more with the consequences of the climate crisis than species that are more generalists.
