Left-Pawedness: Brain Asymmetries in the Animal Kingdom

  • Sebastian Ocklenburg

摘要

For a long time, it was assumed that left-handedness is a typically human phenomenon and animals do not show comparable preferences. This assumption is fundamentally wrong. Current studies show that paw preference and similar phenomena occur in all major groups of animals. Therefore, brain asymmetries represent a fundamental principle of brain organization in vertebrates.
