Ricochets

A ricochet always involves interaction between a projectile and a solid or liquid medium. The process therefore belongs to the field of terminal ballistics; it has already been mentioned in 6.1.5, in connection with the Backman-Goldsmith diagram. That diagram shows that ricochets can occur over a wide range of impact velocities and angles.
