Palpation of the Musculature
摘要
The chapter on palpation of the musculature is clearly the most comprehensive, as there are many elementary facts on both anatomy and palpation. The large number of skeletal muscles enables the body to make use of a wide variety of movements and force developments to meet the demands of everyday life. The initially soft muscle tissue increases the state of tone during contraction. This property can be exploited in the process of palpation. Knowledge of the position of the respective muscle is essential in order to differentiate the structure from surrounding tissues. This chapter covers palpable muscles from head to toe and gives precise instructions on how to trace them. The anatomical illustrations help to find the structure, whereas the instructional videos visualise the practical procedure.
