The fifth chapter analyses a classic question of epistemology: how do we gain insights into and understandings of particular things or material objects. The case at hand will be – not surprisingly – the ski; or, more precisely: the different ways and techniques to learn about, (visually) represent, and test the specific qualities of a ski.
