摘要
Chapter eleven applies the findings collected about the nature, function, and dissemination of style to describe the evolution of the global skiing world and especially the several style ‘revolutions’ (freeskiing being only the latest) that have rocked it in the last century. I will attempt to explain on the basis of their dependence on visible style and visual media why certain mutations of skiing have matured into popular subcultures of their own, while others have been marginalized.
