Definition of Project and Program

Projects are undertakings with a defined Beginning and End, which are characterized by the features of time limitation, uniqueness, complexity, and novelty. Due to their interdisciplinary cross-sectional character, projects can bring about a temporary organizational change and, associated with this, also a redefinition of the areas of responsibility in the company (Madauss, Bernd-J., Handbook of Project Management, Schäffer-Poeschel Verlag, 1993, 5th edition, p. 9); In short: the term project refers to extraordinary undertakings.
