What is Artificial Intelligence?

The study of mathematical logic formed the conceptual and theoretical basis for the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and paved the way for the development of modern computer technology. The Dartmouth Conference was a significant event in the history of AI, as it brought together researchers from various disciplines and laid the foundation for this new field of research. The terms Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning are often seen as interchangeable today and are used synonymously in public discourse, although they actually stand in a hierarchical relationship to each other. Artificial Intelligence refers to machines that are capable of intelligent behavior and are programmed to perform tasks that normally require human intelligence, such as pattern recognition, learning from experience, decision-making, and problem-solving. Machine Learning is a subfield of AI that enables machines to learn and improve independently. Deep Learning, on the other hand, is a branch of Machine Learning that focuses on multi-layer neural networks and can recognize complex patterns in large amounts of data. It has led to significant advances in application areas such as image and speech recognition and autonomous vehicles, but there are still challenges in interpreting and explaining how Deep Learning models work.
