Rare Earth Metals: Lanthanides and Third Subgroup

This chapter provides a detailed description of the elements of the third subgroup of the periodic table of elements, as well as those of the lanthanides (“rare earth metals”), along with their most important compounds. These eighteen elements in total are part of many everyday items and are indispensable for the future in technological terms. We present their chemical and physical properties, their occurrence, significant production methods, applications, and patents.
