Chromium Group: Elements of the Sixth Subgroup

  • Hermann Sicius

摘要

This chapter describes the chemical and physical properties, occurrence, manufacturing processes, applications, and patents of the elements of the sixth subgroup of the periodic table of elements with their most important compounds. Chromium is found as an alloy component in hard and resistant steels, however, compounds of chromium-VI are found in the electroplating and leather processing industry. Molybdenum and tungsten go into hard and high-melting alloys, but their nitrides and carbides are especially important for the electronics industry. Isotopes of seaborgium do not occur naturally and can only be produced artificially.
