CSF diagnostics in acute as well as chronic immune system-associated diseases can only be correctly interpreted through the understanding of immunological networks. The B cell network, which operates via the barrier passage in the brain, and the organ-spanning cytokine network, in which the immune-competent brain cells are involved, are presented in an application-oriented manner.
