Main Investigations

Within the scope of the main investigations, the preliminary investigations are supplemented with targeted, sometimes complex field and laboratory investigations. Soil properties that were previously only estimated and indirectly determined from index tests are now quantified. From the previous stages, i.e. the desk study and the field reconnaissance (which constitute the preliminary investigations), it is already apparent what specific geotechnical issues remain to be addressed, what investigations remain to be conducted to address these issues and where these investigations should be located in the project area.
