Now we are well prepared: The bottles are open, the wine has properly breathed, and we finally allow ourselves a first taste! And of course, this is initiated by the beautiful ritual of toasting. “Initiated” seems particularly apt here, as it brings the clinking of glasses into the conceptual proximity of the ringing of bells. We will return to this—also acoustically fitting—analogy.
