Dream Experiences of Athletes
摘要
This chapter aims to examine the dream experiences of athletes more closely. For physical activity, there seems a continuity between waking life and dream content, those who engage in intensive sports often dream about it. The dream content can have a negative or positive impact on waking life. Nightmares, for example about upcoming competitions, express fears that can have a performance-reducing effect. Accordingly, therapeutic offers for susceptible athletes would certainly be worthwhile. Creative dreams, on the other hand, can provide a stimulus for waking life, for example in finding a complex motor solution. So far, it has not been clarified whether consolidation processes are reflected in the dream content.
