Children and adolescents with juvenile sarcoidosis are usually systemically ill and significantly impaired in their general condition. Therefore, it is important in differential diagnosis to consider other diagnoses such as neoplasms and infections - these must be absolutely ruled out before indicating immunomodulatory therapy. Since there are no clearly defined biochemical markers for sarcoidosis, the detailed clinical assessment and the exclusion diagnosis are of utmost importance.
