Is Every Early Childhood Polyarthritis with Uveitis also a JIA?

摘要

When the concepts of autoinflammatory diseases/fever syndromes were still unknown, there were always children in the cohorts of various rheumatology centers who were assigned to genuine rheumatic diseases, but whose clinical symptoms showed peculiarities. The patient presented, for example, had a particularly pronounced tendon sheath inflammation, which appeared atypical for classic early childhood rheumatism, yet she was subsumed under the diagnosis of polyarthritis. Ultimately, juvenile sarcoidosis was diagnosed under a renewed diagnostic view. Karla’s story shows that it makes sense to subject patients with an unusual disease pattern or course to a conceptual analysis again.
