Many of the characteristics, design considerations, and trade-offs are common to several or all varieties of DOAS systems. In this chapter, we describe the options and design criteria for DOAS instruments, as well as for the required subsystems. In particular, we describe the various decisions that have to be made in design and operation procedures of a DOAS system.
