Behavior

The chapter contains information about the selection forces that act on the behavior of fish (and other animals). Like all animals, fish are subject to selection forces that cause them to produce and raise as many direct and indirect offspring as possible. The chapter explains the terms group selection, kin selection, overall fitness, and evolutionarily stable strategy. It is shown that due to similar selection pressures, the behavior of fish often resembles that of birds and mammals.
