The Sensory World of Fish

In school, you probably learned that humans have five senses. These are the sense of sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. There are also a multitude of other senses, such as the sense of balance, rotational sense, temperature sense, and pain sense. Just like us, almost all fish have all of the mentioned sensory systems (see Box 1). In addition, many animal species also have an electric sense and a magnetic sense.
