  • Adrian Vogler

摘要

Management is an essential factor in the success of a company. The manager’s task is to use the company’s resources effectively to achieve economic performance, ensure labour productivity and job satisfaction and bear social responsibility. The manager’s work involves organising, decision-making, controlling and promoting employees. However, in today’s digital world, the demands on the manager have changed, especially in terms of how communication takes place and how the company must adapt to exponential change. To meet these challenges, the manager must familiarise himself with new technologies and frameworks. It is necessary to have a basic understanding of what opportunities and risks digitalisation holds and what new possibilities it offers. The manager must be able to set goals that are challenging and at the same time achievable by taking into account the possibilities and limitations of digitalisation. For communication, the manager has certain tools at his disposal, such as meetings, written communication and budgeting. These tools have stood the test of time and are still relevant in the digital world. However, the content of communication has changed to meet the demands of exponential change. The manager must ensure that the company takes advantage of the opportunities of digitalisation while avoiding risks. In this chapter, we will look at the role of the manager as a knowledge worker and his tasks as well as tools in the context of digitalisation. We will examine how the demands on the manager have changed in the digital world and what new challenges they face. We will also look at how the manager can prepare the organisation for the exponential change by ensuring that the organisation’s communication, goals and working methods are in line with the new requirements.
