摘要

In the age of rapid digitalisation and exponential change, the foundational principles of work organisation are undergoing a transformative shift. This book, taking inspiration from Peter F. Drucker’s assertion on the significance of these shifts, delves deep into the evolving paradigms of management in today's dynamic landscape. It underscores the imperative for businesses to recalibrate traditional management methodologies to remain agile and competitive. At its core, this work offers insights on how managers can bolster their own effectiveness and that of their knowledge workers in navigating change and capitalising on emergent opportunities. While technology is instrumental in this transition, its primary role, as illustrated in Fig. 1.1, is to amplify the manager's ability to deliver business value and foster human capital development. Drawing parallels between Drucker's insights and Daniel Kahneman's delineation of human cognition into System 1 (intuitive and rapid) and System 2 (deliberate and analytical), the book introduces an expanded cognitive framework. This novel framework encompasses System 3, representing collective intelligence, and System 4, embodying artificial intelligence. Such an approach accentuates the potential to harness vast amounts of structured and unstructured Big Data.
