Case Studies—Managing New Dimensions of Complexity With GSE

After the GSE thinking model was introduced in Chap. 4 and the individual modules of the GSE procedural concept were presented in Chap. 5, the following chapter will outline, using concrete examples from practical application, how the GSE approach as a whole contributes to managing the complexity of systems in the new dimensions. In addition, application examples for the DeCoDe and e-DeCoDe modeling will be presented, and their advantages and disadvantages will be discussed in the specific use case. Six application examples with technical systems from product development and production will be presented. In the three examples of sociotechnical systems, in addition to production and product development, the use of GSE for an entire company organization is also considered.
