Cellular Adaptation: Hypertrophy, Hyperplasia, Atrophy
摘要
Cells and tissues are able to adapt in response to changes in their local environment and to meet the changing needs of the organism. Cells may respond by modifying biochemical pathways, altering gene expression, replicating, or dissembling unneeded internal structures. The terms used to describe these changes are below, and the chapter presents some classic examples of these adaptations.
