摘要
Spirituality is – understood as „the inner spirit, which gives a person the understanding of what he creates his life from, what gives it a meaning and also, how he tries to survive illness, death and grief“ (quote E. Weiher) – an important resource, especially in times of great burden. This equally applies to seriously ill and geriatric people themselves, as to their relatives, as to those caring for them. To discern and accept them, to perceive the questions and needs that arise in this dimension and to respond to them empathetically and professionally, requires schooling and training. Spiritual Care is thus understood as a joint task for all members of the multi-professional treatment team. It is by no means the intention to exclude the professional chaplain, but to involve him both in the individual care (with the patient’s or resident’s consent) as well as in the implementation process. In order to assure quality standards as well comparability of the different implementing processes in spite of adopting the content to the different requirements of the implementing institution a special concept with obligatory and facultative modules has been developed.
