Impulsivity and Obesity
摘要
Impulsivity is a multidimensional construct including rashness and lack of planning or careful deliberation. Research indicates that obesity is associated with increased specific (i.e. food-related) and general impulsivity (including personality). Reward sensitivity may contribute to an attentional bias and affective and cognitive responses towards tasty, processed food. Rash impulsiveness may be associated with the inability to resist food cravings and with impaired control over eating. The role of impulsivity should be taken into account in the diagnosis and in conservative as well as surgical treatment of individuals with obesity.
