Galaxies

After individual compact objects and sun-like stars, galaxies are the next larger structured objects that are presented here. We start with our galaxy (Milky Way) and then turn to the classification of the abundance of galaxies [3, 36]. Subsequently, we summarize evidence for the existence of Dark Matter and introduce the important new field of numerical modeling using \(\Lambda \) CDM models. This ultimately leads to the question of the embedding of galaxies in the universe. GalaxyMilky Way
