The general advantages of sludge drying are described. Belt drying is very suitable for using low temperature exhaust energy starting with 60 to 70°C and ending with 145°C for safety reasons. It is emphasized that sludge is a sink for harmful substances and that these substances do not simple vanish but stay in sludge or are transferred to exhaust air and/or to condensate.
