Adaptive Middleware for Heterogeneous Automation Environments

The development of smart working environments is becoming a necessity in industry. Within the European project INCLUSIVE, we have developed an adaptive automation middleware (MW) characterized by a modular architecture that allows for scalability and easy connectivity with proprietary interfaces. This was reached using IoT-technologies to enable the management and control of diverse automation devices and software applications. The MW is based on a Digital Twin that represents relevant information about products. Furthermore, it provides an efficient environment for user-adapted HMIs, allowing diverse users to control industrial machines. As a result, a modular and flexible MW has been created.
