Research work on deviance and violence has been dominated by western perspectives whose focus was on delinquency and violent behaviour of males compared to their female counterparts (Annette, 2011). This has however created a gap in understanding and documentation of delinquency and violent behaviour of females. Currently, researchers have begun studying female juvenile delinquency because deviant behaviours seem widespread also among females (Annette, 2011; White, 2020).
