摘要

This chapter deals with the further simplification of the equations derived in the previous three chapters. Under the assumption of spherical symmetry and a polytrope of index unity a Helmholtz equation for the perturbed gravitational potential is derived. To solve this PDE, we then construct an orthonomal basis taylored to this problem and use it to determine the wind-induced density of the planet.
