A Strange Isolation
摘要
The idea of interrogating the phenomenon of ecological practice in its relationship with its social contexts emerged from the intuition of some conceptual problems in the discourses that separate them, and a lack of connection of those discourses with what I have had preliminarily observed in some local communities in Latin America. The ethnographic research done in Chiloé as a case study for this research, which will be explained in detail in the second part of the book, is advanced here to introduce the theoretical discussion by graphically showing the kind of elements that may underlie the experience of the ecological in certain communities. Quepi is a rural fishing locality on the island of Chiloé, that in recent decades has faced significant ecological challenges and conflicts and has become a community recognized for an ecologically sound way of life.
