Cultural Heritage through the Lens of the Human Rights Council and Its Mechanisms
摘要
In 2007, the Human Rights Council (UNHRC) adopted resolution 6/11, which included the request to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights “to encourage all relevant human rights bodies and mechanisms to pay due attention to the issue of […] protection of cultural heritage as an important component of the promotion and protection of all human rights”. This chapter reviews the work of the UNHRC and selected mechanisms. This includes primarily UNHRC resolutions, the work of the Special Procedures, specifically the mandate of the Special Rapporteur in the field of cultural rights, and the Universal Periodic Review (UPR).
