Corporate entrepreneurship is a debated concept in the academic literature, without a unified definition and encompassing a broad range of corporate measures and initiatives. The same holds for the definition of the corporate entrepreneur, who is described by some scholars as an independent entrepreneur and by others as a corporate manager or employee. Agency theory and new institutional economics are introduced as theoretical frameworks to clarify the role of the corporate entrepreneur in corporate-startup collaboration programs.
