摘要
What we consider a fairytale of a time long past—the catastrophe of Atlantis, the sunken city—could be a reality in the very near future. In the South Pacific, some small—in the present globalized world, insignificant—island States are threatened by the acute menace of submergence. Some of these low-lying coral Atoll Island States—namely Kiribati, Tuvalu, and the Marshall Islands—deal with the constant loss of territory. The following array will give an impression of the multiple impacts on the islands affecting the population in all aspects of their life, in either geographical, environmental or socio-economic manner, accumulated in high vilnerability.
