The AVL Fuel Cell Technology Demonstrator Truck exemplifies how the development of driveline components, systems, and vehicle integration can be optimized by leveraging AVL’s extensive expertise and internal databases. By utilizing interlinked simulation tools and specialized testbeds, a digital twin of the vehicle is created, minimizing both development risks and project costs. As the demonstrator truck is set to make its road debut in 2025, it will play a pivotal role in advancing solutions for the growing demands of fuel cell trucks in the heavy-duty sector. Fuel cell vehicles are highly complex, and with future powertrain concepts still uncertain, decisions often need to be made based on limited information. AVL has demonstrated how simulation, applied at early stages of development, enables the successful achievement of ambitious goals for this cutting-edge fuel cell truck. This presentation will explore how AVL’s approach minimizes uncertainty, optimizes efficiency, and accelerates the realization of sustainable transportation technologies.
