Here I explain the tragedy of the commons and elaborate on why true altruism cannot exist. I attempt to outline how it can nevertheless be possible to practice successful environmental protection without placing individual interests above group interests. In this chapter, I aim to highlight that although all our actions are selfish/egoistic, it is still possible to uphold group interests.

摘要

Here I explain the tragedy of the commons and elaborate on why true altruism cannot exist. I attempt to outline how it can nevertheless be possible to practice successful environmental protection without placing individual interests above group interests. In this chapter, I aim to highlight that although all our actions are selfish/egoistic, it is still possible to uphold group interests.
