[Excerpt from Field Notes]: I arrive at the Blaise Museum after half an hour’s bus ride from the centre, it is raining quite heavily, which as I will learn later is an indication that there will not be many visitors today. This is because the Grade II listed Victorian mansion is set in a park north-west of the city centre and takes about half an hour to reach by bus. The house was owned by slave trader Thomas Farr and later by the Hartford family, who sold it to the city council in 1926 and turned it into a Victorian museum.
