Using the two modes of veiling and unveiling, it became evident how, in the interplay between text, textiles, and bare skin, iconic condensations unfold in favor of an associative experiential space. This is an experiential space in which viewers, through affective and scenic understanding in the context of their own memories and imaginations, experience themselves and become synesthetically aware of their own perceptual experience. Against the backdrop of the analogies identified between film reception and identity formation, as well as individual and cinematic self-reflection, an aesthetic shift toward the haptic and the associated focus on skin signals a skinematic turn, in which the particularly therapeutic potential of film is once again revealed.
