Theological Approaches in Disengagement and Deradicalization
摘要
This article explores various approaches to integrating Islamic theology into disengagement and deradicalization efforts, highlighting that there is no consensus on the subject. The argument here is that incorporating theological approaches into deradicalization projects can be advantageous. Islamic theology, used as a complementary tool alongside existing deradicalization methods such as systemic counseling, can be applied in a needs-based manner. A theological approach can help engage individuals who might otherwise remain resistant. In counseling or group discussions, four key theological themes have proven effective, with selected excerpts from the Quran and Hadith presented as examples depending on the thematic focus. Additional steps are required to further develop theological approaches in deradicalization work. The training and education of Islamic theologians must follow standardized guidelines. Moreover, networking among existing theological tertiary prevention projects is recommended to establish consistent standards and facilitate the exchange of experiences in this field.
