Methods, Methodology, and Ethics
摘要
This chapter shows how to conduct social research in emergency contexts such as the Covid-19 pandemic by adopting hybrid modes mixing online and offline activities. I point out concrete problems which emerged during the fieldwork with families with children and possible mitigation measures. I treat the mobile research methods go-along and virtual journey extensively, underlining their situated and embedded character and their potential for learning, also from a biographical point of view. The concept of ‘substantial ethics’ counterposed to ‘formal ethics’ represents the compass that orients methodological work.
