This contribution first provides a fundamental classification of the resilience construct and presents key empirically substantiated protective and resilience factors. Following a brief discussion of the parallels between “resilience” and the development of trust, the basic principles of promoting resilience in educational institutions such as early childhood centers and schools are described—the starting point here is the development of the institution, whether daycare center or school, into an organization that fosters resilience.
