The limited state of knowledge in current research led to the decision to employ both qualitative and quantitative research methods in the form of a mixed-methods approach (Bryman, 2006, p. 97). In German-speaking contexts, the commonly used term “multimethod approach” generally refers to the combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods within a single research design (Kelle, 2014, p. 153; Lamnek & Krell, 2016, p. 261). Building on this, Sects. 5.1 and 5.2 provide a detailed discussion of the methods of qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys, respectively.
