However, due to the complexity and diverse interrelationships, IT tools are necessary to document processes and support them in operational practice. This article provides a comprehensive overview of potential IT support and presents the tools commonly used in practice for process modeling and analysis, workflow management systems, enterprise resource planning systems, and more. Finally, the article addresses current topics such as digitalization, big data, cloud computing, and Industry 4.0 with regard to their points of intersection with process management.
