Modeling and Analysis of Processes
摘要
Models serve to simplify real-world phenomena. They abstract from unnecessary details and provide stakeholders in process management with a tool for documenting, analyzing, and improving processes. This article introduces fundamental questions regarding the modeling and analysis of processes and subsequently discusses modeling methods commonly used in practice: process map, process profile, tabular notation, swimlane diagrams, extended event-driven process chain (eEPC), and Business Process Model and Notation. Finally, aspects of proper modeling are addressed and the presented methods are compared. Review questions and exercises ensure learning success.
