This work aims to contribute to the state of the art in the security of industrial and medical Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Smart mode-switching helps manufacturers and operators to be prepared for the unexpected. Modes provide a better overview and more transparency about several systems’ current status and security situation for security experts, system administrators, operators, customers, and manufacturers.
