The chapter brings the book’s different threads together, and shows how the main danger posed by technocracy is that of curtailing the space for political judgments. By restricting the purview of legitimate opinions, the political nature of democratic rule is itself put into question. Without political judgment, new beginnings cannot be set in motion. Against this backdrop, the chapter argues that political opinion and political decisions need to be understood as already part of action in the Arendtian sense.
