So far, this thesis has developed a conceptualization of electoral integrity from a citizen’s perspective (Part II) and designed a new survey-based measurement instrument that can assess the ten dimensions of electoral integrity most relevant for citizens (Part III). This part of the thesis (Part IV) applies these ten indices to answer the third research question, namely how citizens perceive electoral integrity in Germany. The following chapters pursue a primarily descriptive objective to provide a more nuanced picture of citizens’ perceptions, thereby applying one of the key advantages of the new measurement instrument, which is to disentangle citizens’ perceptions regarding the ten dimensions of electoral integrity. Afterwards, Part V will build on the insights gained in this descriptive analysis to investigate the determinants of citizens’ perceptions of electoral integrity.

摘要
